What a treat. Two hours of live music. For the first hour, we welcomed back to Profiles in Folk, seven-time all-Ireland button accordionist John Whelan who will be celebrating his 30th year in music this month. In the second hour, Pete Morton of England made his first visit to the show in advance of an appearance at the nearby Branford Folk Music Society's Trinity Coffeehouse. For the transition, John and Pete teamed up for an on-air duo treatment of Pete's "Another Train."
It was a fabulous night of live music. Our sincere thanks once again to WSHU/WSUF Chief Engineer Paul Litwinowich who handled the sound for the two hours.
For the first 60 minutes, we chatted with John about his three decades in music and an upcoming 30th anniversary concert in Milford. During the hour, John played four medleys of diverse (mostly traditional) tunes, but in true Irish music form could remember the name of only one, "From The Heart."
