We air two hours before the St. Patrick’s Day holiday begins, so why not start the celebration early? This year we’ve chosen two themes from two special recordings:
2001 marks the 25th birthday of Green Linnet Records, formerly of New Canaan, and now of Danbury in our fair state. To highlight that occasion, Green Linnet has released a 2-CD set from its back catalogue. We also included a few recorded words from owner Wendy Newton on how it all came about.
Folk-Legacy Records, the good people up in Sharon, just released a CD entitled “Irish in America,” a wonderful compilation of songs of and about the Irish in America put together by Dan Milner and Bob Conroy, stalwarts on the New York City Irish music scene (and then some).
For those tuned in on WSHU-FM, there was an added 30 minutes of program to put us squarely into St, Patrick’s Day as we sampled new recordings from Karan Casey and Andy Irvine.
