The Passion of Jesus Christ

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This annual program marks the Christian observance of the Passion of Jesus Christ, commonly referred to as Holy Week. In folk music, it traces Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem on what is now called Palm Sunday to preach and observe the Passover, His celebration with disciples of the Passover on Maundy Thursday, His arrest and Crucifixion and then His Resurrection.

In the second hour, we devoted time to religious expression in black folk music. We concluded the night with a reprise of Andy Statman's powerful music from last week's show that was primarily devoted to the Jewish observance of Passover, to make the links between the two religions.
