Songs Of Thanks and Giving

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

With the airing of Profiles in Folk for many, many years on Friday nights, this show, coming the day after Thanksgiving, has been a vehicle for exploring universal themes such as thanks, love, grace, homecoming and justice. This year the show takes on extra meaning because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America that have established a new spirit and civility across the land and a coming together of the nation.

Since Sept. 11 we have received many unsolicited releases, mostly CD singles that feature musical responses to those tragic events. We have selected several for airing tonight. Proceeds from almost all the 9-11 recordings go to funds established for the survivors of victims of the tragedy.
