A Robert Burns Night

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

Och, we're having a wee party to celebrate the 243rd anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland's legendary poet whose genius did so much to preserve and popularize the country's traditional music. This Bard of Caledonia was also one of the world's first and foremost song collectors and restorers, leaving us more than 300 songs that, in his own words, he "begged, borrowed and stole" from folk tradition.

Two sets are in tribute of Davy Steele and Tony Cuffe, fine interpreters of Burns' songs, both of whom died during 2001. Bruce Davies will be joining us again at Profiles in Folk on May 3 when he begins his American tour for this year.
