Fall Pledge Night

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

It was fall pledge night on “Profiles in Folk” and we did it with a twist this year, welcoming the generous help of seven-time All-Ireland button accordionist John Whelan to the studio. John’s a good friend and has appeared on the program several times but this volunteer gig was beyond expectations. He played live in the studio and also helped pitch for pledges in that winning manner he has. We doubled our goal for the program.

Acoustic Connections host Walt Graham, a longtime friend, and WSHU Chief Engineer Paul Litwinovich, who has helped bring a whole new in-studio performance dimension to Profiles, joined us as well for the two hours. Thanks to everyone who had a part in our little segment of the pledge drive including Mark Edwards and Ellen Litwinovich and a host of volunteers in the pledge room taking phone calls. And most of all, thanks to all of you listeners from Connecticut, Long Island and Rhode Island who generously made pledges during the show.

We even managed a bit of music amidst the pitching.
