Alas, I never catch up on “new releases” but I can program some of the outstanding ones. For me, this show came with an extra treat. My son Matthew, who hosts “The Moonshine Show” of bluegrass on WKCR-FM in New York City (and who made his radio debut on “Profiles in Folk” when he was 4 years old some 19 years ago!) dropped by the WSHU studios and found himself a co-host. We had a spirited discussion of the music, including his reminding me that terming the Alison Krauss & Union Station release “new” was, perhaps, pushing the point.
