10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters
While WSHU Public Radio Group’s headquarters and main broadcast studios are in Connecticut, the signals for both WSHU and WSUF also serve listeners on Long Island. I’ve learned over the years through phone calls and e-mails that “Profiles in Folk” has a devoted and dedicated audience across Long Island Sound, with many of listeners being members of the Long Island Traditional Music Association and the Folk Music Society of Huntington. This show featured work by artists from Long Island, highlighting a mix of performers, some of whom will be appearing this month at LITMA’s annual Fiddle Festival in Smithtown. We gave away tickets to the festival and our phones were literally flooded with calls from “across the Sound.”
