Most of this show highlights selections from anthologies produced by Signature Sounds Records of Massachusetts and Pinecastle Records of Florida to mark their respective 10th and 15th anniversaries. Both are labels whose releases I draw from frequently for programming — Signature Sounds largely for its wonderful stable of singer-songwriters and Pinecastle for its continuing high quality bluegrass.
The show also featured selections from the fourth solo (and first for Appleseed Records) release of old friend Kate McDonnell who for the decade 1985 to 1995 made her home in our broadcast area and, in addition to her solo work, is fondly remembered for her work with McDonnell-Tane and Colossal Olive.
The show opened where I briefly left off last week — with great fiddling from 15-year-old Mike Barnett.
