Religious Expression In Folk Music:

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

The Passion of Jesus Christ

This program offers the Christian observance of the Passion of Jesus Christ, commonly referred to as Holy Week, as depicted in folk and acoustic music. It traces Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on what is now considered Palm Sunday to preach and observe the Passover, His marking with the disciples of the Passover on Maundy Thursday, His arrest and crucifixion on Good Friday and His Resurrection on Easter, the crux of Christianity. We concluded the night with a powerful instrumental piece by the Andy Statman Quartet to underscore the link between two of the world’s great religions during this holy season and to connect to next month’s program marking the Jewish holiday of Passover.
