Once again, an entire night of “Profiles in Folk” devoted to in-studio live performance and discussion.
Guests for this special “in the round” program were Connecticut’s Cece Borjeson, a singer of ballads both traditional and contemporary; Westchester County’s KJ Denhert, who’s dubbed her musical stylings as “urban folk and jazz”, and the duo Causeway (Barb Pecirep and Zach Hurd), the “new kids on the block”, having graduated from college only in May 2003 and already with a CD to their credit and a regular touring schedule.
All four performers were appearing the next night (with some 15 other artists) at the 5th Annual Elm City Song Circle, a nearly eight-hour singer-songwriter extravaganza to celebrate the second anniversary of “The Space”, a marvelous venue in Hamden that presents a good deal of folk and acoustic music.
In the WSHU studios it was a magical night of mostly live music with all four performers sharing songs and at times participating in each other’s music.
Our thanks to WSHU Chief Engineer Paul Litwinovich for once again being “the man behind the glass” who makes the music and discussion sound so sharp and sterling for our listeners.
