A Folk Cornucopia

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This is another show of folk variety, although with a heavy nod toward bluegrass. The first hour was dedicated to my father, Steven Carl Winters, who passed away one week ago, just four months short of age 90 after a fruitful and productive life. During the past decade, he was a devoted listener to my show, even though folk and acoustic music was not his musical cup of tea. He was one of those people I jested about every January (during my annual anniversary show on Robert Burns) who actually thought “Auld Lang Syne” was Guy Lombardo’s song! As a listener, he particularly enjoyed the shows with live in-studio guests and the bluegrass sets I program on a regular basis.

My sincere thanks to WSHU Chief Engineer Paul Litwinovich and Walt Graham, host of Saturday night’s “Acoustic Connections”, who on very short notice sat in for me last Friday during the WSHU Public Radio’s winter pledge drive.
