10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters
A two-part show: The first hour was devoted to homage to Canadian singer-songwriter, poet and novelist Leonard Cohen who was recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with five of his compositions — “Suzanne”, “Bird On A Wire”, “Everybody Knows”, “Hallelujah”, and “Ain’t No Cure For Love”.
In addition, the Montreal-born Cohen has been in the news in recent years when he became entangled in a web of claims and counterclaims concerning management of his assets by a woman who served as his business manager from early 1988 through October 2004. Cohen alleged in a lawsuit that Kelley Lynch, the business manager, siphoned off more than $5 million of his savings over an eight-year period. Two days before this show, an American court granted Cohen a default judgment of over $9 million against Lynch, although it’s unclear if he will be able to collect because Cohen’s lawyers are not sure if she squandered all the assets or retained some. The second hour was devoted to just a few of the many Celtic artists who will be appearing in our broadcast area this “St. Patrick’s Month”.
