Light the candles, America’s 230 years young this July 4. This is our annual unabashed birthday bash for this nation — a bit of patriotism, a short lesson in U.S. history, a one-hour “program within a program” focusing on the “American originals” that the Carter Family and Dr. Ralph Stanley are and some grand instrumentals to close the evening.
The “program within a program” was Joyride Media’s production, “Ralph Stanley: A Distant Land To Roam”, which highlights the songs of the Carter Family as chosen from Stanley’s new album of the same title on Columbia/DMZ.
