Four Singer-Songwriters In The Round

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

Braving the superstition of Friday the 13th, we were joined Live in WSHU’s Studio A by Erik Balkey, Bonnie Lee Panda, Marc Douglas Berardo and Chuck E. Costa for an entire evening of music in the round.

The show marked a return visit for Erik, Bonnie Lee and Marc but the “Profiles in Folk” debut of Chuck E. Costa, who hails from Madison. It was a night of fine music and lively discussion, covering topics such as songwriting, musical influences, musical competition and musical community, and new notes of protest in the singer-songwriter community. We concluded the night with a “Happy Birthday” to Marc Douglas whose birthday beckoned a second beyond the midnight hour.

My thanks to the singer-songwriters and especially Erik Balkey for bringing it all together, and to WSHU Chief Engineer Paul Litwinovich, our “man behind the glass”, who mixed the evening’s sound.
