10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters
This program turned the spotlight on two recipients at this year’s International Bluegrass Music Association Music Awards and a new CD from Profiles in Folk favorites Margot Leverett & The Klezmer Mountain Boys during the first hour. The second hour featured some new roots music releases.
Spotlighted were IBMA recipients (Jamie) Dailey & (Darrin) Vincent who were feted at the recent IBMA awards program in several categories: Entertainer of the Year; Vocal Group of the Year; Male Vocalist of the Year (Jamie Dailey); Album of the Year; Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year, and Emerging Artist of the Year. Not too shoddy! In addition, Bill Clifton, whose career includes nearly six decades in bluegrass music and is acknowledged to be the first person to introduce bluegrass music to England and Europe, was one of two inductees this year to the IBMA Hall of Fame. The other was the late musicologist and bluegrass scholar Charles K. Wolfe.
