“St. Patrick’s Month” Continued

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

Our musical friends the Shamrogues like to term March “St. Patrick’s Month” because of the abundance of Irish music in the air. In that spirit, since this year’s St. Patrick’s Day fell pretty much in the middle of two Profiles airings, I offered up another show of Irish music, both new and old.

The feature of the night was about 30 minutes of selections from the new two-CD release by Columbia/Legacy of the complete St. Patrick’s Day 1963 concert of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. It was some 45 years-plus ago that Columbia released one long-playing album with about 37 minutes of music from that concert that became an instant hit. It was one of about 10 albums that hooked me on folk music.
