It’s All Celtic

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This program is all Celtic music, primarily from Ireland and Scotland. Featured are selections from a brand new two-CD anthology from our friends at the Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society celebrating the 10th anniversary of their concert series which has brought the finest of Irish performers to stages throughout the Southern Connecticut region. The program also links into their May 16 “Celtstock”, a free day of music offered by the society at the historic Pequot Library located in the Southport section of Fairfield, the same community in which WSHU is located. The society can be reached through the Internet at www.shamrockirishmusic.org

The show also features music from new albums from Scottish groups Malinky and Bodega released on the nearby Mad River Records, and, from Ireland, the venerable Tommy Sands and the performer known simply as Skully and his revamping of traditional Irish music. The show starts off with two tunes and a song from the soundtrack of the American Public Television documentary “Absolutely Irish.”
