Catching Up On Recent Releases II

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

The second of two programs before we enter the fall season for folk that features a batch of recent releases that caught our ears. There’s even a bit of a circus theme as part of the show, compliments of albums centered on big tent shows from mandolin and fiddle wizard Peter Ostroushko and Stevie Coyle, for many years a member of The Waybacks.

The other thread running through the show is some notes of protest for social justice and equality. The show also includes fine new work from singer-songwriters Lara Herscovitch, Connecticut’s reigning State Troubadour; South Carolina’s Angela Easterling and Joe Jencks from Illinois, as well as a superb sophomore effort from Rose Laughlin, now based in Seattle, who reworks a lot of traditional material.
