This program showcases exquisite new albums that have found their way to WSHU Public Radio and Profiles in Folk. Most are new, while two are a bit older but new to us. Included in the recorded treasures is a gorgeous flame red vinyl album from Pat Conte, music collector, world music anthologist and longtime old-time and blues musician extraordinaire. It’s the first album issued by the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and includes notes by Pat and Joe Hickerson, retired director of the Library of Congress’ Archive of Folk Song & Culture.
Hudson River Valley’s Spuyten Duyvil will debut its new album at a CD release party June 10 in Yonkers while gifted Canadian singer/songwriter John Wort Hannam is offering two concerts in our broadcast area this weekend.
