Classical Crossover, Live Tonight” And Remembering Jack Hardy

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This program represents a wonderful musical stew. I began with music that straddles the classical and folk, including a delightful new release from violinist/fiddler Samantha Gillogly from Massachusetts, and concluded the first hour with a lengthy set from three performers appearing locally this weekend.

I devoted the program’s second hour to a remembrance of an old acquaintance — master singer/songwriter Jack Hardy who died one year ago on March 11 at a far too young age of 63 and before thousands of songs more had been written. The sets draw heavily from a double album tribute recently released via download from the Fast Folk Musical Magazine, which Jack founded and edited in Greenwich Village in 1982. The download also includes a video and a special 149-page issue of Fast Folk, including articles, historical photographs, song lyrics and more. See www.jackhardy.com for more information on the download.
