Rhythm & Roots

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

Three-quarters of this edition of “Profiles” is dedicated to the upcoming Rhythm & Roots Festival in Ninigret Park in Charlestown, Rhode Island on Labor Day weekend. The big, rollicking music festival is in the backyard of our WSUF-FM listeners and is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. To add to the party, for the past two shows I’ve offered listeners the opportunity to vie for free tickets to the festival. Our thanks to Rhythm & Roots for its generosity.

I opened the show with selections from two new albums that have their roots in bluegrass — but with a few contemporary twists.
