You Asked For Them

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This is a show comprised entirely of requests from listeners. Those who communicate with us by e-mail, snail mail, phone calls and in person know that I’m always asking, “What do you want to hear?” Well, here’s a show that partially answers that question. Since I prefer to program at least two pieces by an artist in a show such as this, many requests are going unanswered for the moment but will pop up on a similar show down the path.

Listener requests are fairly constant through the years for artists such as Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul & Mary, Joan Baez and Loreena McKennitt, so this time around I’ve chosen Dylan and McKennitt to fill that yearning. Some of the requests such as Barbara Dane and early Country Gentlemen (before John Duffey left the group in 1969) surprised me a bit. And two of the requests (for the Stray Birds and the Coal Porters) opened my ears to artists with which I was not familiar.

Here’s a toast to all you listeners out there.
