Old friends — in this context, as in old, familiar songs or artists who I’ve programmed on Profiles for many, many years — are like a comfort food. They’re very comfortable as well as totally satisfying and soothing to our ears and minds.
This show spotlights a group of “old friends” who’ve brought us a batch of new releases this year. But, there’s always an exception in my programs: The Honey Dewdrops are relatively “new friends” (we’ve been programming their music for a few years) and they’re here tonight because they have a concert next week in Hamden.
No Strings Attached, whose wonderful music I’ve been programming since the days of vinyl records, will be the headliners at this year’s Nutmeg Dulcimer Festival in Milford on the last weekend of October.
