Kicking Off St. Patrick’s ‘Month” with Burning Bridget Cleary

Hey, it’s the start of the St. Patrick’s Day long weekend and we’re celebrating by enjoying a return visit to Profiles from the awesome Celtic band, Burning Bridget Cleary from Pennsylvania. We taped a 43-minute guest spot with the four band members last Friday when they were en route to what became a SRO gig at CT Folk in New Haven. We discussed the latest album “Pressed For Time” with the ensemble — fiddlers Rose Baldino and Deirdre Lockman, guitarist Lou Baldino and percussionist Peter Trezzi.

In addition, our St. Pat’s celebration features unreleased tracks from the “Masters of Tradition” tour led by fiddler extraordinaire Martin Hayes. The ensemble’s only Connecticut appearance will be March 22 at the University of Hartford. There are also selections from recent Celtic releases and two pieces about his beloved Ireland from the late Jack Hardy, an old friend, to mark the third anniversary of his passing on March 11, 2011.
