Playin’ Old Favorites

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

Summer offers a prime time to put aside the piles of new album releases and take a leisurely listen to older albums and relive memories. There’s little rhyme or reason to the arbitrary (and certainly not inclusive) selections offered other than they are musical pieces I’ve enjoyed since their inception and they are all selections from albums 25 years or older. Some of the selections have been sought by listeners. The performers hail mostly from the second wave of the American folk revival when Profiles was in its early years. I decided to keep the show contained on this side of the Atlantic with one exception you can easily spot. Of course, that means there’s another show in the wings that will feature performers from “across the pond.” One of the benefits of “going back” is that many of the albums have been remastered and reissued, leading to much improved sonics.
