The glorious celebration of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, falls on Tuesday and Profiles in Folk is putting on the green early. This show starts with a spirited tribute to the old saint but then turns the focus to a more solemn and sobering look at the issue of immigration to the New World for the Irish and, by extension, to other immigrant groups. A major part of the show features material from Tom Russell, Tim O’Brien, Jack Hardy (who died four years ago this week) and Annie and Marie Burns, all of whom devoted entire albums to examining their Irish roots.
